Tape Design was started by architect Robert Glass in Summer 2012 after graduating from his Part II studies in Manchester. Also a former student of Newcastle University, Robert spent the years in-between studying working for builders at home in South Cumbria. As well as enjoying the graft and being outside, through this work he gained a key understanding of how buildings are put together.
After his time in Manchester, Robert had the opportunity to work for Harrods in London, Project Managing the ever changing super-brand store in the fast paced world of retail. He completed his Part III studies and became a RIBA chartered Architect whilst working here, as well as accomplishing a number of personal projects at home in Cumbria.
Yearning to be self-sufficient and take on the challenges it brings, he returned to Cumbria with enthusiasm and fresh ideas in Spring 2016 and, together with his girlfriend Ruth, set up Tape Design at a permanent base.
Acting as both an Architect’s studio and homeware shop, Tape Design now reside at 18A King St, Ulverston. The shop contents are influenced by Scandinavian design, selling hand-selected pieces as well as home grown talent.
The back-of-store studio offers a no fuss, approachable service from concept sketches through to the full planning process. Project Management, furniture and landscape design services are also available.
